Dear God, what has happened to our Village of Palmetto Bay! We worked so hard to
incorporate and we peacefully tackled every step of the way including paying a $3 million
“Ransom Fee,” as we called it, to have our own special city. I know that because I was
there!
It was so sad and appalling to hear the speakers on Monday night! Unfortunately, there
is a cancer in our city! I’m hearing how Councilman Cody and his caustic remarks have
negatively impacted the reputation of our city and how the incident has traveled not just
locally but across the country. There’s no room for this kind of behavior! This is not the
publicity our city needs nor deserves.
Earlier this year, I returned to speak to the Council regarding the concerning “toxic
demeanor” I saw and heard from others. I asked them to be respectful of each other! Even
later in that meeting, when the councilman spoke very derogatorily, I remember exchanging
a look with our mayor. I guess my remarks fell on deaf ears!
Writing horrific words on Facebook, suing the city or other councilmen, embarrassing our
residents or disagreeing with several attorneys’ decisions and shunning another human
being because you don’t believe in his beliefs is not what we should be experiencing from
a member of the council! This has been the divisive attitude of Steve Cody. Now is the time
to do something and take back our respected city. The values of Palmetto Bay are in
jeopardy!
