I'd like to comment in support of item 14C. While this may surprise many due to my reputation as a fiscal conservative and a "budget hawk", there are 3 compelling reasons why I'm supporting this item:

    1. Exceptional Talent: Offering competitive salaries is essential for attracting and retaining skilled and experienced professionals in the organization. Manager Marano has proven through his skills, experience, and track record to be a highly sought after talent in the municipal government industry.

    2. Industry Expertise - Having deep industry knowledge of both municipal governments and the issues specific to Palmetto Bay provide for a competitive advantage. There is no position more important than the Manager in dealing with the complex inner workings of a municipal government and I would prefer to have the expert leading the organization.

    3. Long-Term Strategy - Coincidentally, this item is being heard on the same date as the budget hearing. The budget not only is a financial plan for the upcoming year but also acts as a policy guide, an operations guide, and a communications device. Included in the budget is a 5-year capital plan and I would prefer to pursue a long-term strategy where we retain a strong leader that will carry out the goals and objectives during that period of time.

In summary, and given the Village’s historical challenges in filling this position, this item would be penny-wise but pound foolish to not support.

    thank you,
